-fexceptions comes from your makepkg.conf. $(maybe_debug) doesn't have anything to do with it.

I also don't know why are you posting this here, this "issue" is in git head, not in 1.13.1 release. So if anything is wrong then you can file orphan request for vkquake-git (as the maintainer of it is rather inactive) and fix it there.

-fexceptions is unsupported: https://github.com/Novum/vkQuake/issues/473#issuecomment-1140328427. Thus I suggest removing $(maybe_debug) from the pkgbuild.

The mime-type of x-scheme-handler/steam should be removed from the desktop file. It will cause issues with Steam as it is the handler for Steam.

Doesn't build unless you install opusfile and libmikmod, which aren't in the deps.

For me it seems that its upstream, I tested on 2 machines on which I could build it before without issue, so I opened ticket on Github. I hope it helps https://github.com/Novum/vkQuake/issues/222
