I hadn't before you brought it to my attention (which was the issue), but I did before you just rebuilt. And I did just check, makepkg --printsrcinfo > .SRCINFO doesn't change the pkgver or pkgrel fields in .SRCINFO. Again, I think that for *-git and other VCS packages, the pkgver and pkgrel variables are largely there to track the version of the PKGBUILD and the pkgver() function determines what actually gets built.

And before sending PKGBUILD to AUR do you execute this command makepkg --printsrcinfo > .SRCINFO

To my knowledge (please correct me if I'm wrong), this is because the package build has a pkgver() function that determines the actual version number. I hope I was following the directions for VCS PKGBUILDs properly, documentation here.

Now version 1.0.1_r0_g672bf02-1 has built and auracle does not report updates. But one thing puzzles me is why the version contained in PKGBUILD, i.e. 1.0.1-2, is not being built.

I believe it may have been a problem with the .SRCINFO file, and I hope it should be fixed now. Let me know!

Could you please tidy up with pkgver as I use auracle which notifies me of updates in the AUR. And after building xsudo I have version v1.0.1 and auracle notifies me that there is version v1.0_1_gbf7d6a8 and after issuing the command trizen -Syu v1.0.1 is built and so on.
