@carstene1ns Thanks. I guess I finally have enough of a reason to learn making, maintaining and submitting user packages to AUR. So until I get a good hang of it I'm more than happy with the co-maintainer role.

quake2-data-gog and quake2-data-steam could probably be added as optional dependencies since they can be used to provide gamedata system-wide?

Trying myself, source builds, compiles and the game runs fine with just bumping the version number to 8.20 and updating the checksum or is there something else holding back the upgrade?
