I ended up switching to i3 because it was not reliable on wayland. Hopefully that changes soon.

I'm on KDE with Wayland as well. I hope this will get fixed soon.

@Rhinoceros I'm on wayland too, using sway.

@rakatan I'm exactly the same. I can't get screen share to work at all after the first dialogue. IDK if it's our DE? I'm using Wayland (on KDE). What are other people using?

tested 6.1.11, screen sharing still broken, unable to select individual windows and it crashes when ending the screen share.
How are people able to get the screen sharing working at all? for me, when I press the screen share button, there is the first dialog to start sharing screen, I select "use system" and continue, but the following popup doesn't even open, the sharing doesn't start - nothing happens.

I have audio problems with all 6.1.X versions. output is great, but mic makes choppy sound, other participants can't even understand what I say.
Changing system.audio.type to alsa in ~/.config/zoomus.conf didn't work
ps.I don't use pulse

tested 6.1.11, screen sharing still broken, unable to select individual windows and it crashes when ending the screen share. How can we help to get this fixed sooner as non-devs? it's been going on ever since this new version got released, I already made a post on the zoom support page a while ago. I really need screen sharing to work properly for my work.

Turning off compression did it for me (for all AUR packages): https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Makepkg#Performance-related_changes

Whenever I run yay -S zoom
the "compressing package" part of the process takes an inordinate amount of time; like a couple of minutes or longer. Anyone have any idea why that is?
mallrat commented on 2024-08-19 11:23 (UTC)
I've just tested the new version 6.1.10. The issues are in place: screen share the whole workspace only, hang on stopping the screen sharing session.

@Rhinoceros - I finally got screen sharing to work under KDE with Wayland. Looks like I'm using the same versions as you:
I followed the Screen share section on the Zoom wiki page:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Zoom_Meetings
The only thing I didn't need to do was set XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=gnome. I followed the other steps, and now I can choose my desktop/window to share. Prior to following the wiki I couldn't stop screen sharing without the hanging issue, which I was experiencing prior to 6.2.10.
