@fettouhi indeed it is installed, (EDIT: and so is the icon) under the hicolor 512x512 resolution folder. I'm guessing some desktop environments aren't picking it up because they aren't looking in that path for it.
One way around it is inline the absolute path into the desktop file, which could be done via a patch I could supply. However, I'm not so sure that is the most appropriate solution. Feel free to leave suggestions, draw opinions, either for or against my proposition.

@rgcv maybe the issue with the missing desktop icon is a bug? Becuase I can see the installed desktop file in /usr/share/applications

No problem! Glad to know you managed to get it working. And we're always learning, that's totally fine! Better than stagnating, or refusing to learn outright, I suppose ;)

Thanks. Totally something I should have done but I'm gonna put it down to stuff I'm still learning. I actually ended up uninstalling the package, cleaned the cache and build files and then reinstalled. That all worked then.

Hello everyone!
Sorry, been a bit inactive. That and Outlook likes to flag e-mail notifications as Junk, so some comments go by me unnoticed. I'll try and address whatever issues may still be present ASAP!
@LinuxScouser have you tried clearing AUR package cache? I made a mistake when updating the checksums when releasing version 2 of the package.. You might have some left-overs laying around. Shouldn't be happening anymore.
@fettouhi @Blaiz0r I was under the impression that the install target in the build system installed both the desktop file and the icon it uses. Upon checking, I can confirm it does so. I might be able to bundle a patch that hard codes the path in the desktop file, though I would imagine it wouldn't be necessary.. I'll get on it when I get around to it. Thanks for pointing out! Completely missed it, using i3 ;)

I noticed the desktop icon isn't found on Gnome also, I manually updated my chiaki.desktop file to use https://github.com/thestr4ng3r/chiaki/blob/master/gui/chiaki.png
Hopefully the maintainer can add this to the package.

Could you maybe add the desktop icon to install? Doesn't show up under KDE. Plus have you been able to figure out what firewall ports need to be opened?

Apologies if this is just a Manjaro issue but I'm not able to build the 1.0.4-2 update. I'm getting a fail during the validity check.

Awesome, will do. Thanks for the feedback :)
