Please download the linux chitubox 1.8.1 archive from https://www.chitubox.com/download.html and place it in $(xdg-user-dir DOWNLOAD)/CHITUBOX_V1.8.1.tar.gz (typically $HOME/Downloads) and try again.

It tells me that CHITUBOX_V1.8.1.tar.gz isn't found in the compilation folder and isn't an address.

to install the 1.7.0 and newer download forom the chitubox website the archiver
download the pkgbuild from aur edit the pkg build and replace the pkver by the version of the downloaded archive replacer the first sha256sum by "SKIP"

Apparently the update check in the app triggers for the 2.2 beta version - which is beta on the website, but apparently not(?) otherwise?
Please tag this out of date AFTER it's available on the website, as even the online installer has the word BETA in it, there's a small .run updater file that the app downloads but…
