Agree with previous commenter, the Makefiles in the examples expect the path to be in IDF_PATH not ESPIDF.

Shouldn't the path in the install file be "IDF_PATH", as per the documentation? https://esp-idf.readthedocs.io/en/latest/get-started/index.html#get-esp-idf
