Since today I have problems with building evdi-git. I realized that my external screens were not recognized and that displaylink could not be started because modprobe evdi failed. I tried to rebuild evid-git and that fails with the following errors:

I'm not sure what I can do to overcome the "invalid reference" in git. Can you help me out?

@zweieuro Have you tried installing linux-headers?

endorfina commented on 2024-02-02 12:04 (UTC)

@MaKaNu Can confirm that commenting out devel fixes evdi

MaKaNu commented on 2024-02-02 09:50 (UTC)

@cedricroijakkers are you sure? The line checking out devel is commtented. Neverless I also got the invalid reference: origin/devel. Checking twice it seems my cached PKGBUILD is still uncommented. Deleted the PKGBUILD and got again the uncommented version.

This package is referring to branch devel which does not exist anymore. Can you please switch it to main?

I am on kernel 6.6.7-arch1-1 but after installing evdi-git the modprobe still fails with modprobe: FATAL: Module evdi not found in directory /lib/modules/6.6.7-arch1-1

Works well with arch 6.6.7 and displaylink. I have just some freeze but its a minor bugs since I just need each time to disconnect et connect my session and all works perfectly ;)

Exactly that i do on a last Endeavour Galileo version : yay evdi-git yay displaylink sudo modprobe evdi sudo systemctl start displaylink.service sudo systemctl enable displaylink.service

its all :)

@severach, on the basis of @endorfina's comments can the linux-headers-dependency be deleted?

bf_x commented on 2023-11-21 12:02 (UTC)

I had problems with evdi/displaylink on 6.6.1 and 6.6.2 using AMD Ryzen on KDE Plasma/wayland. The displays showed but when I moved the mouse to them, it all crashed.

It's working after I added KWIN_FORCE_SW_CURSOR=1 to /etc/environment.

linux-headers shouldn't actually be listed as a dependency. dkms already does the legwork. I amended this in the evdi package recently: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/evdi?O=10#comment-916603
