Chromium.org people has finally seen the light and now google-chrome-unstable can be installed side by side with other channels. Now the directory is called google-unstable and the desktop and icon files are called google-chrome-unstable (from reading the desktop file) as well as the man page and the cron job file. Can you fix the PKGBUILD so it is installable?
I wonder if the beta channel PKGBUILD needs to be adjusted as well.

Thanks once more. You really don't need to do that.

Got it working now.
I had to modify the MD5 as per the downloaded deb.
In case anyone needs it, here's the working PKGBUILD: http://ix.io/700

I got it working....somehow. Deleted everything and re-downloaded the tarball. used this to build the package:
$ makepkg -s --skipchecksums --skipinteg
Package installed without issue.

When reporting this package as outdated make sure there is indeed a new version for Linux Desktop. You can have a look at the "Dev updates" tag in Release blog for this.
You can also run this command to obtain the version string for the latest chrome version:
Do not report updates for ChromeOS, Android or other platforms stable versions as updates here.
