Sorry for the unreliable builds recently. I've spoken with Futo about the generic latestversion.zip downloads and have been advised about versioned links which they don't officially publish. Hopefully that should finally resolve the issue of this package breaking when a new release is published to the same download URL breaking checksums.

This was the only one of the 3 AUR packages that worked for me, but the application seemed to have trouble updating itself. I grabbed FUTO.Updater.Client from their current Master on github, and replaced it with the one I had, updated the permissions for the file, and it seems to update itself fine now.

Unsure if this is intended or not. I think there was an issue with their previous updater, and they released a new binary for it.

  • Disregard. I just tested this on my laptop, and it worked fine.

@nathanchere very strange! I double checked that all required dependencies are installed on my system and they are. I am running dwm tiling window manager. Could this eventually cause the issue?

@Dominik sorry, I can't reproduce what you're describing. I have tried both installing in a fresh sandbox VM and wiping/reinstalling on my main system. In both cases I can't reproduce the behaviour you describe. Screenshot of what I get: https://imgur.com/iUXibQD

If you are upgrading from an earlier install I would completely uninstall and make sure you delete $HOME/.local/share/grayjay, but otherwise I can't think of anything else that might help.

@nathanchere Going to sources → "Official Plugins", There are no plugins I could activate or install (see screenshot)

The only option I've got is under sources → "Install Other Sources", where I install from URL. I tried to copy the URLs from the official grayjay-sources.github.io which resulted in the error message "Invalid Config". How can I install the offical plugins correctly?

nathanchere commented on 2025-02-04 20:25 (UTC)

@Dominik I don't use pikaur but have confirmed it works with both paru and yay. Re: plugins, it only includes PeerTube instance by default, you have to install the others via "Sources" tab (icon looks like gamepad buttons) and "install official sources". You can add Youtube/Rumble/etc there.

Dominik commented on 2025-02-04 12:03 (UTC)

The package doesn't build with an aur helper (pikaur). Manually building the package worked. However, all sources are missing except from "PeerTube Instance". Please include the other official plugins into your build.

Even with the new update this package seems to remain broken

Same issue. No patch for now.

/home/<user>/.cache/paru/clone/grayjay-bin/PKGBUILD: line 23: cd: /home/<user>/.cache/paru/clone/grayjay-bin/src/grayjay/Grayjay.Desktop-linux-x64-v5: No such file or directory

I have checked manually and the folder that is actually being created is marked as v4.
