The Steam version runs well, as far as I can tell. Migrating the save keeps everything and will unlock Steam achievements.
Migration instructions:
$HOME/.local/share/holocure/wine/drive_c/users/$USER/AppData/Local/HoloCure/
.steamapps/compatdata/2420510/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/HoloCure/
exists.eden commented on 2023-05-26 04:28 (UTC)
Hey folks, looks like they decided to release a Steam version: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2420510/HoloCure__Save_the_Fans/
I'll see how well it works on there. If it does (and I expect it to), I'll probably be dropping maintenance of this package.

Might need a 1676079090-2...

@naginipython itch.io doesn't keep outdated links, so if there's a new update then the PKGBUILD will fail.
Please try again now that I've updated the package.

@snarfies Thanks for your patience and help in flagging issues. I was able to repro the desktop entry issue and resolved it. Turns out the way I launch things did not use the desktop entry, so I learned something new about my environment today.
Does this happen when you launch via the desktop entry or when directly running
/usr/bin/holocure
? My understanding is that a functioning desktop entry is necessary to find the icon, so if you're directly running it I would expect it to not have the logo.toynbeeidea commented on 2022-09-12 18:15 (UTC) (edited on 2022-09-12 18:17 (UTC) by toynbeeidea)
Installed - launcher does nothing, at least in KDE. Its set up to launch with Kate. I assume holocure.png is meant to be the icon, but it shows as a default icon. Appears to work reasonably well once manually launched.

@snarfies Ah, I think I misunderstood the situation. I thought you were describing the
.SRCINFO
metadata being outdated, not thePKGBUILD
failing.itch.io here seems to only keep one upload per file (e.g. holocure provides an
.msi
file and a.zip
). It looks like there was an update, which killed the old link. I've updated thePKGBUILD
with the new build. Not sure if there's any good solution here other than to flag out-of-date when the link dies? :(

@eden I don't know from getting stable downloads from itch.io. But have a look at https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=dungeons-of-dredmor - it has code that lets you type in a path to a compressed package. Non-ideal, but maybe you could use something like that?

Hey @snarfies, thanks for the tip. itch.io seems to have expiring URLs to their file downloads, so from my understanding I won't ever be able to provide a stable URL. This is my first AUR package so if you are familiar with a workaround that I'd love to learn about it.
I tried my best gathering info from the wiki and it looks like the linked package also has a dead link, so I wasn't sure if there was a better convention.
