@TheEdgeOfRage This package packages the official binary version of Mirantis. To package a fork somebody would have to create a different package because if we do it here it would not be the official one.

Anyway I recommend you to use the lens package that builds the binary from the source and does not have that feature.

Considering the controversy behind the recent decision to force all users to create a lens ID to be able to use Lens at all (https://github.com/lensapp/lens/issues/5444) there are now a couple of forks that patch out the login requirement and build a binary release without it, while following upstream releases (https://github.com/MuhammedKalkan/OpenLens/releases)

It might make sense to use one of the forks for this package, but it might also be a better idea to create another package alltogether. I just wanted to leave a comment with the idea

Hi there,

Could you please add the following to the desktop file?

MimeType=x-scheme-handler/lens;

Lens' spaces now seems to require a login wich is achieved through the browser calling a link starting with lens://...

edit: well, looks like I made a confusion between spaces and named hotbars. Latest version introduced some changes I was not ready for. Anyway, the scheme handler for lens:// would still be useful.

@wcasanova, as @josc says, the icon should be renamed to avoid conflicts. Anyway the app's official internal name is now open-lens and I'll do changes to adapt it.

wcasanova: in my example, i renamed the icon to "lens-bin" since lens is a very common word, and conflicted with another icon, for me on Gnome.

maybe they should change the name via upstream? https://github.com/lensapp/lens/blob/master/docs/img/lens-logo-icon.svg

I have made an update to PKGBUILD and lens.desktop to support newly released Lens 5.0.0 .. There are some changes, since they have moved away from GitHub Releases. Mostly made it for myself, but if anyone want to use it, feel free :)
