Unfortunately this package is not working with the latest kernels (6.4) and likely requires an upstream update - if the nonfree drivers are not needed then oss or oss-git should work.

@deathrashergr: Thank you for the note. Looking on the OSS forums it seems this will need an update (possibly upstream) for 6.0+ kernels: http://ossnext.trueinstruments.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5904

@seawright: I'm not sure it actually makes any difference in Arch Linux since around 2013: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Frequently_asked_questions#Does_Arch_follow_the_Linux_Foundation's_Filesystem_Hierarchy_Standard_(FHS)? https://www.archlinux.org/news/binaries-move-to-usrbin-requiring-update-intervention/ https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-dev-public/2012-March/022625.html

@alexdw I am new to Arch Linux but have quickly realised that its ethos is different to that of other distributions. I am however perplexed that someone (or a general consensus) has deemed it necessary to move system programmes (as indicated by their appearance in section 8 of the man database) such as ossdetect and ossdevlinks from /usr/sbin to /usr/bin and wondered if you (or someone else) could explain the rationale behind that decision and whether it should still apply.

This suggests another upstream patch/release will be required to make oss work with 5.2+ kernels: http://ossnext.trueinstruments.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5882

Please note that the current build of OSS v4 (OSS v4.2 build 2019) does not appear to function for 5.2+ kernels.
For oss-nonfree, the error happens during soundon. See error details at: https://pastebin.com/mxU9sgbg The log actually lists every kernel module as being "invalid ELF objects", although this might not be the main culprit.
However, the package still works for the linux-lts kernel (currently 4.19.68-lts) up to 5.1+ kernels (tested for 5.1.19).
