A couple of things related to this package:

  • I created this package in order to ease myself the options and many post-installations settings, also it depends on a particular theme (mint-themes) and also it downloads the latest Bing wallpaper and set it up as an initial background, also it depends on the lightdm-guest package (which I maintain) so I can add guest-session by default.

  • The difference from this package and upstream lightdm-slick-greeter is that this one has some additional options regarding theme, initial settings and an added wallpaper by default, whereas with the upstream package you need to set things manually on several options.

  • Please refrain from comments about why I choose a particular theme or why the options of this package have been tweaked into the particular ones, as I first mention this package will allow me to ease into certain configurations, which may or may not be to your liking. If you wish to do these yourselves, then you are free to use the upstream package instead.

  • Although this package can provide some initial settings by default, I do not lock into those particular settings or prevent any further and future changes, which means that you are free to change it to your liking afterwards (themes, wallpaper, options, etc.) even after installing this package (by using lightdm-settings, console, gsettings or any other tool). As per this issue given by upstream, upstream does not give any default option about themes or wallpaper, and it is up to any distro, packager, maintainer or otherwise to change those to whatever they may like

  • Before giving an out-of-date notice, please check the upstream package lightdm-slick-greeter so I can check if there have been any changes between both packages that I can use to update it.

  • Also as mentioned earlier, this package downloads the latest Bing wallpaper (all credits goes to Microsoft into these pictures), so before giving "issue" about why the wallpaper change or it is different, keep in mind that the wallpaper changes daily, which means that if you install on December 30 (for example), you would not have the same wallpaper as someone who install it later on January 1 (for example)
