@rellieberman: Greetings, this is due to the new "Styles" option that Cinnamon itself has implemented, but to make it possible you have one out of 2 options:

  • You create a customized style
  • You reuse one of the available ones

In both cases you must have a matching/defined GTK theme, a Cinnamon theme and a cursor theme, if you don't fulfill the three conditions, then the "simplified way" won't appear at all.

Thus, the reason of why this package was created and you can use it to bring at least the Cinnamon mint themes, regarding other combinations, keep in mind that it either depends on upstream available options or I could go on myself and create one and make it available (which I cannot promise due to time issues IRL, also I had a hard time understanding the syntax required).

@duckmercury: please, in case that the package is not available, just leave an out-of-date notice and I will update it at my earliest possibility, even if I receive the notice sometimes I may not be available, so please, just be patient on that and don't add notification comments. Thanks for undestanding

@Santi-Burgos: I was referring to the url array, not the source array:

url="https://github.com/linuxmint/mint-themes"

@yochananmarqos: Regarding the dependency: I issued an update to fix that (seems that the package wasn't available until recently)

Regarding the download repo, I can't change it, since Github doesn't host package versions (except for master versions, which are unstable) and I had to change some others from the Github URL due to this reason (if I switch the URL variable from package(dot)linuxmint to github, it gives error in the download process)

@Santi-Burgos: This no longer builds with sassc, upstream moved to using pysassc provided by python-libsass. See this commit.

Also, please stop using the download repo for the upstream URL. Almost all projects have a GitHub repo. In this case, it's https://github.com/linuxmint/mint-themes.

Hi everyone and thanks for this package maintenance. The new version of cinnamon themes comes with a simplified way to choose the theme and play around with the mint-y color options. For some reason only other themes appear in the simplified dialog, but the mint-y theme does not. Does anyone know why this would be? Thanks again

@sdj: thanks for the information, in case you consider that the issue is due for being a new version, please use the option "Flag package out-of-date" so I can check it and update it when I have availability (or you can also do it manually in the meantime if you wish). In the meantime, please remove your comment, thank you very much
