(follow-up) - yeah, currently it's a bit of a mess :

  • I found permalinks, like https://ltspice.analog.com/download/24.1.0/LTspice64.msi
  • the above is the same file as what you currently (2025/01/25) get from https://ltspice.analog.com/software/LTspice64.msi
  • the version string in the .json file is not 24.1.0 as expected, but '24.0.12' ....
  • if you download https://ltspice.analog.com/download/24.0.12/LTspice64.msi, the .json says 24.0.11...

I'm going to try using a permalink, just so the build doesn't break on their next update, but I may not notice for a while to update the PKGBUILD. We can revisit this if analog gets their versioning straightened out.

Good idea, I'll integrate it. Thanks for the patch!

LTspice is a win64 software. People who set the WINEARCH in their environment variables may failed to start it. How about specifying WINEARCH=win64 in ltspice{,-help}.sh? Below is a patch:

Are you able to download this file via your browser or from the command line?

Is it possible that you are behind a strict firewall or require the use of a proxy?

Hmm can't make it work, but could be my stupidity too..

Thanks for the quick reply :). I will look into it in the evening.

This can happen if the download fails for some reason. Can you try removing any cached files from your AUR helpers cache directory and trying again?

maxsak commented on 2020-12-16 12:58 (UTC)

When I try to install it, I can get through the downloads, but there are loads of Download Errors (7) while doing so. In the end it aborts with: Downloaded all files! wrestool: /var/tmp/pamac-build-maxsak/ltspice/src/ltspice/XVIIx64.exe: file has a size of 0 convert: improper image header /var/tmp/pamac-build-maxsak/ltspice/src/ltspice.ico' @ error/icon.c/ReadICONImage/236. convert: no images defined/var/tmp/pamac-build-maxsak/ltspice/src/ltspice.png' @ error/convert.c/ConvertImageCommand/3298

I waited about 10 to 15 mins then I gave up. Thank you so much for the quick response and the download indicator addition. its great and much appreciated.

The download takes a long time as many files are downloaded. On my quad core CPU it takes around 10 minutes for a fresh download, with a good internet connection. How long did you wait? I can add some kind of download indicator to determine whether the process is actually stuck.
