Done, thanks!

Sounds good, or just add me as a comaintainer.

@severach: Great! Would you be interested to take over this package as I am no longer able to give it the care that it deserves?

I’ve updated the package to remove python2. It builds in python3 and python2. It includes the option to switch back to python2 and pygtk for the terminal.

@Craft: I actually contacted the developer around 4 or 5 years ago and his advice was to use another editor. Unfortunately, he doesn't intend to continue Medit's development.

Yes, I am also very sorry that the author stopped developing Medit... I've been using it for a very long time, and it's the best text editor in the world. Maybe the author or someone else will take up his continue its development again and set him up for Python3 ?

PhotonX commented on 2023-02-20 10:30 (UTC)

Right, I haven't put into action the thoughts from my previous comment eventually. I guess, it's a good thing to do it now. Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of a move and have no access to my desktop machine right now which has all my AUR stuff. I'll take care of it asap.

xxxxme commented on 2023-02-19 23:47 (UTC)

Unfortunately there's still an indirect dependency on python2 through pygtk.

PhotonX commented on 2022-11-02 09:41 (UTC)

Now that Python2 has been dropped from the repos, I am thinking about removing the python2 dependency. I also noticed that medit-full does have the python2 dependency still, so currently medit and medit-full are redundant.

Any objections?

Just in case someone is interested: developer has commented that he could give some help if someone decide to port it to gtk3[1] (maybe then medit could go back to official repositories?). Best regards.
