Hello I would like to highlight a few issues within the PKGBUILD:
-
multimc script should be named something like multimc.bat or multimc.script or multimc.wrapper (used by other java packages to wrap their jars) or some suffix to highlight that it is a script and not a binary. This is not essential, but is useful. When you install the script you change the filename to remove the suffix.
-
A little nitpick, it makes more sense to put internal variables used within the PKGBUILD at the top of the file (anything prefixed with a _), I do not know if this is a convention but this is just how most packagers do it and its a lot cleaner.

For those who want to use multimc 0.7, edit the PKGBUILD and set pkgver=0.7.0
Set the first sha256 sum to 0585778c3e9e8cd51d324af6c69469439f36a88571ef83be44ae01fcfefdd251
If a new update window appears its probably false.

I am unable to find any references to an updated version 0.7. If anyone has a link please flag the package with the url and let me know.

I highly recommend that people who enjoy using the AUR and want to support a project that follows it's guidelines move to polymc.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I totally respect the developers of MultiMC for the project they have created and built over time, as well as the maintainer of this AUR package who continues to update it after the drama. Just thought I'd recommend alternatives for those looking :)

So, basically, deleting this folder will completely remove everything related to multimc from my system? If so, then great, thank you so much! I was worried it actually installed some of the dependencies outside of home folder.
shuangyupian commented on 2022-01-15 18:39 (UTC)
ewbte, delete any binaries and shared objects in ~/.local/share/multimc
. Jar files, you're mostly own your own. Everything is mixed with application data so it's hard to figure out which is which.

I am sorry if I am asking in wrong place, but someone mentioned that previous version of this package did install dependencies the wrong way, and so it was impossible to remove it using package manager, can anyone explain me how to find them manually and delete if so? Thank you.

@peterix, there are no trolls here. Just one mighty, insufferable cretin.

For updates please use the "Flag package out-of-date" button. Do not bother developers on GitHub for install issues. At least one developer have indicated that they are unwilling to work with downstream packagers that do not use their update script.
DO NOT HARASS THE DEVELOPERS. Please abide by the AUR COC. This is a package, not a battlefield. No need to be childish about this.
