You are indeed correct, it's a stable. I don't know why I thought it was beta...nevermind, it works :)

Nv News is up again. 260.19.12 is indeed stable: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=122606.
Det commented on 2010-10-14 09:14 (UTC)
@darkraven, it is. Other GeForce 400 Mobile series users also seem to be reporting blank screen issues with 260.19.12.
@ProgDan, where did you get the idea that 260.19.12 is beta? Why would it be certified if it was beta?
darkraven commented on 2010-10-14 08:13 (UTC)
@Det, I'm sure I've done everything right, but the 260.19.12 driver doesn't work for me, neither does 256.53. But the old 256.44 driver works well for me, and GT 420M isn't even in this driver's support list.
How extraordinary.

@darkraven, when looking at the "Beta and Archived Drivers" section in nvidia.com it seems that the support for you card should have been added with 260.19.12 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-amd64-260.19.12-driver.html) (no Windows driver available yet). If you are absolutely certain you got nvidia/-utils v260.19.12, this post might help instead: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1579444

Geforce GT 420M still produce a blank screen

This is nvidia certified beta. It's located on http://us.download.nvidia.com. I don't know if these releases are uploaded to ftp://download.nvidia.com
Det commented on 2010-10-13 17:19 (UTC)
Not yet in the ftp.

@shemz: this would break the idea of forcing users to keep both packages in the same version. Use pacman -Rd instead.
smahs commented on 2010-10-13 16:49 (UTC)
Could you please add nvidia-utils-beta>=${pkgver} in the depends field instead of '='. I am getting this error while updating from the previous version:
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: nvidia-beta: requires nvidia-utils-beta=260.19.06

@Bohdanator you need to install both packages at the same time with 'pacman -U'.
