This package ships the OnlyOffice Desktop Editor, not the OnlyOffice Document Server.

Please, make sure that you are referring to the correct software when flagging this package out of date :)

in case anyone is using wayland ($ echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE) and has an issue with this app hanging after selecting e.g. "new document", running it with QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb onlyoffice-desktopeditors works perfectly.

May be related to wayland or Desktop Environnement

Yeah, me neither... :( what I see is what I recorded in the github issue

@Akrai An empty output is good in this case, without showing errors. I have no hanging issue. I can edit and create documents without any problem. Cannot figure out what may be happening with you.

akrai commented on 2020-12-26 16:31 (UTC)

I always have run the desktop entry, I only run the /opt/ one once because kikislater asked me to do it. I didn't know about the libraries issue, thanks!

The output of /usr/bin/onlyoffice-desktopeditors is the same as the desktop launcher, is empty as I said

dbermond commented on 2020-12-26 16:27 (UTC)

@Akrai You should not run '/opt/onlyoffice/desktopeditors/DesktopEditors' directly, since it will load libraries from the default system folders, instead of the onlyoffice one, and this will obviously lead to errors. You need to run the starter script '/usr/bin/onlyoffice-desktopeditors' or click on the onlyoffice desktop entry. Please paste the output of: /usr/bin/onlyoffice-desktopeditors

akrai ~ $ /opt/onlyoffice/desktopeditors/DesktopEditors
This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "xcb"
in "".

Available platform plugins are: linuxfb, minimal, offscreen, vnc, xcb.

Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Abortado (`core' generado)

And if launching the onlyoffice-desktopeditors command, it does launch the graphical UI but only the welcoming one, and as in the video, it hangs in there when opening a new or existing document, all of this with an empty terminal output.

akrai ~ $ type onlyoffice-desktopeditors
onlyoffice-desktopeditors está asociado (/usr/bin/onlyoffice-desktopeditors)

Launching /usr/bin/onlyoffice-desktopeditors does the same.

What happen if you start binary /opt/onlyoffice/desktopeditors/DesktopEditors from terminal and look for output ?

akrai commented on 2020-12-24 16:06 (UTC)

I have the same output as yours (except the hex codes, all different, i don't know what are those codes but i suppose it's irrelevant)
