To install all versions of packettracer except 7.2.2, follow this guidelines: 1. Download the snapshot from this AUR. 2. Tar -zxf the packettracer.tar.gz snapshot (it creates the dir packettracer/ with the PKGBUILD on it). 3. Download the latest packettracer tarball from your Netacad account and copy it into the packettracer/ dir. 4. Create the package with the command makepkg (it creates a packettracer.pkg.tar.xz). 5. Install the package with either makepkg -i or sudo pacman -U packettracer.pkg.tar.xz.

Packettracer 7.2.2 are auto installable via run file, download it from netacad webpage and run it, you don't need this package.

Can't you use one of the mirrors who publicly publish PacketTracer_730_amd64.deb on internet? So it will be fully automatic, I see plenty https://duckduckgo.com/?q=PacketTracer_730_amd64.deb

And if you're afraid use the website who also are on the libre domain, and do a checksum on what's downloaded

Could NoDisplay=true be patched into /usr/share/applications/cisco-ptsa7.desktop? It's only for handling pttp:// URLs, so it doesn't have to show up in application menus.

I think packettracer.sh should be removed from this package.

  • PT7HOME doesn't seem to be necessary for Packet Tracer to work.
  • QT_DEVICE_PIXEL_RATIO is a deprecated variable (more info here: https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/highdpi.html). I don't really see why this variable falls within the scope of what should be set by this package anyways, though. Moreover, since the script is installed to /etc/profile.d/, this will be applied to all programs. Being deprecated, this causes a lot of warnings to be created in the system log.

I installed an older snapshot on a different system without any issue. I installed 7.3.0 on another fresh system and am getting "File Not Found" on device icons: https://ncry.pt/p/RsPn#6Xy3_ynpBaD4XMm4kLsSKuJHlfkC2KStB1pbkVtxJ4c

I created a script for installing Packet Tracer 7.3.0. Tested on Arch Linux, Manjaro and openSUSE Tumbleweed.

@fatOwl, the same way used to install, follow the pinned comment, with the new version of packettracer and AUR tarball.
