This installed fine for me, but within the program none of the interfaces would ever light up green when they were enabled.
I got it to work by adding the pushd and popd lines to the startup script at /opt/pt/packettracer
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/opt/pt/lib"
pushd "/opt/pt/bin" >/dev/null
exec /opt/pt/bin/PacketTracer6 "$@" >/dev/null 2>&1
popd >/dev/null

@runnytu, yes, packettracer works ok when launched manually (thank you for that by the way). But when doing Cisco exams sometimes it requires packettracer to be launched from the browser. This is why the check exists... It will probably not detect packet tracer during an exam, that is the problem I am thinking about

@TCGman, Yes, the test doesn't work because only searches this specific variables, in the other side packettracer works ok.

@runnytu, that's weird because if I don't set this variable then the test fails to locate packettracer :
ERROR -- Your current environment variables don't allow us to find a candidate Packet Tracer installation directory. You may identify the proper Packet Tracer installation directory by setting the value of one of these operating system environment variables: PTHOME,PT_HOME,PT10HOME,PT9HOME,PT8HOME,PT7HOME,PT6HOME,PT5HOME,PT_LAUNCH_DIR,PTDIR; or by adding Packet Tracer's "bin" subdirectory to your PATH environment variable.

@TCGman, It's not necessary because in PKGBUILD Symlinked /opt/pt to /usr/bin.

Would it be possible to add to the PKGBUILD echo "export PT_HOME=/opt/pt" in /etc/profile.d/pt.sh for example ? There is a need for such a variable according to the Cisco Packet Tracer environment checker (https://assessment.netacad.net/check/check.html)

To install all versions of packettracer except 7.2.2, follow this guidelines: 1. Download the snapshot from this AUR. 2. Tar -zxf the packettracer.tar.gz snapshot (it creates the dir packettracer/ with the PKGBUILD on it). 3. Download the latest packettracer tarball from your Netacad account and copy it into the packettracer/ dir. 4. Create the package with the command makepkg (it creates a packettracer.pkg.tar.xz). 5. Install the package with either makepkg -i or sudo pacman -U packettracer.pkg.tar.xz.
Packettracer 7.2.2 are auto installable via run file, download it from netacad webpage and run it, you don't need this package.
