Please depend on
pulse-native-provider
instead ofpulseaudio
. See https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/pipewire/-/issues/10connaisseur commented on 2024-08-03 04:15 (UTC) (edited on 2024-08-03 04:15 (UTC) by connaisseur)
Please modify dependency map from
pulseauto
to
libpulse
only. That makes the use of pipewire-pulse as an alternative PA laver possible.

@quequotion Fair enough, the upstream is also dead at this point. But it does do what it was intended at least for stereo outputs even in 2022.
If there's an updated fork that you know of, I'll be glad to take a look and consider building from that instead.

@eclairevoyant
I haven't tried it lately, but I doubt anything has changed.
It's never had trouble with a typical stereo (two speakers--left and right, or headphones) setup apparently.
What it can't seem to handle is the a52 surround sound plugin. ie, users with digital surround setups are not likely to find it usable.

Builds and runs fine on my system, and I'm even using
pipewire-pulse
notpulseaudio
itself.benpiano800 commented on 2022-02-02 04:09 (UTC)
Upstream hasn't been updated in years, I think it's fair to call this package dead

@deemon
It's not just not showing, but freezes immediately when it opens.
Try opening it while audio is playing: it should show levels, but stuck wherever they were at that moment.
I don't think the original maintainer (Lennart Pottering) is still working on it, and I don't know how to get word to him that it's broken.
There's a gtk3 port, itself untouched for seven years, which I have just packaged for the AUR, but it has the same problem.
I'll take a look, but I don't have any idea what's going wrong.

Stopped working. Builds fine, starts also, doesn't show anything on bars anymore.
