You are right a pkgver() function is better then static for building from git, but the latest official release was 1.5.1. I prefer the git version reflects that.

Since upstream repo has not set the tags correctly, I used the same pkgver() function as in openscenegraph-openmw-git pkgbuild.

Which give

  • pkgver=1.5.0+130+ge75adf8

It is the same used by Arch packages that build from a fixed commit, like this pkgbuild
