Reminders:

  1. Before installing this package, make sure your system has the corresponding kernel headers and the package base-devel installed.

  2. You have to manually blacklist or remove any conflicting drivers installed except the in-kernel rtw89 driver.

  3. ONLY kernel 6.5 to 6.13 are supported currently.

Somehow .git/, .gitignore, debian/ and README end up inside the package. Is that supposed to happen?

i can't seem to build it with linux-git due to the following error :

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/DKMS_package_guidelines#Dependencies
linux-headers (or any kernel headers) shouldn't be a dependency of a dkms package.

Adding linux-headers as a dependency adds unnecessary package to systems in which other kernels (e.g. Zen, Hardened...) are used. It's not okay. The DKMS package has these as optional dependencies, which should be enough, if the user cares to reads pacman's output... Please remove it.

Please add linux-headers as a dependency. The package builds fine but errors out at Install DKMS modules step without it.

Searching for drivers-next in the upstream repo results in this issue talking about how (as of Sep 10) the code is in review but it's slow progress, as well as this more recent pull request which mentions (Oct 11) that version 7 of the driver (the branch we use) has been merged into wireless-drivers-next.

It was also reported on Phoronix that this driver has been merged into what will most likely be the Linux 5.16 kernel.

Do you know when this driver flows into the kernel?

makedepends should include xz. Without xz build is successfull but the both installed module files have a size of 0 bytes and by this useless.

I have updated PKGBUILD to point to the v7 branch upstream.

Mime commented on 2021-10-18 15:27 (UTC) (edited on 2021-10-18 16:56 (UTC) by Mime)

The package should be changed to pull the sources from the v7-Branch, as the v7-Branch corresponds to the drivers merged into wireless-drivers-next and therefore the package should build and use the improved v7 version instead of the older and unstableer v5 version.

Edit: Thanks for the update
