Don't think it is an itk bug, because simpleitk 1.0.0-1 compiled and installed without any problems.
Could it be the switch to clang?

Seems an old ITK bug. Could you upgrade to ITK 4.12 and try again?

Attention: Currently
simpleitk
cannot be updated to 2.4.0,insight-toolkit
needs to be updated to 5.4 first.
