A simple fix for openjdk8 (should be compatible with v7) and adding the missing gawk dependency (which is present upstream): http://pastebin.com/bfgpmWaT

It does seem to be upstream with openjdk8. It works just fine with openjdk7. With 7 the output is: $ java -version java version "1.7.0_91" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.6.3) (Arch Linux build 7.u91_2.6.3-3-x86_64) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.91-b01, mixed mode) With 8 the output is: $ java -version openjdk version "1.8.0_66" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_66-b17) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.66-b17, mixed mode) The script is specifically looking for the "java version" part and in 8 it changed to "openjdk version"

its probably an upstream issue, but the launcher script does a poor job at detecting what it thinks is the apropriate java version. It completly fails with openjdk. The program itself runs fine with openjdk1.8 though - once you remove the [if] from the launcher
