Why is there exec on the third line of the sskype script? This leads to the fourth line never being executed; in other words, the xhost settings for _skype will remain active even after the script finishes.

This doesn't seem to work anymore? There is no error, just a short flashing of skype and then instantly quitting.

after updating to 'skypeforlinux-stable-bin 8.69.0.77-1' I cannot make or receive calls with skype-secure. using the regular skypeforlinux-stable-bin executable works though. any solutions?

@alium: I'm using this on manjaro and using the application shortcut in the whisker menu doesn't work. I have to run 'sskype %U' in a terminal and then enter my password; and then I have to enter my skype credentials to login.

Is this any more secure than using skypeforelinux with firejail? I am asking because out-of-the-box this skype version is not included/sandboxed by firejail.

@Astaoth: yes, a special user is used for running Skype within one's normal environment. Permissions will have to be set to ensure your home directory is not readable by the special Skype user.

@Marc.2377:

I am install newest version of skypeforlinux (8.20.0.9) and skype-secure (i have not installed) and all works normally, without problems with login/logout.

Try uninstall skypeforlinux-stable-bin, skype-secure, delete _sskype (if still exist) and install again.

@alium thanks for updating quickly!

I already upgraded, but still - sadly - it keeps logging me out. It's weird because, when launched, the window loads as if I'm logged in, but a second or two latter, it logs out.

I'll try to investigate this next week; if you have any clues on where to look, please let me know ;) regards

@Marc.2377:

  1. Thanks for info about icon name, i am changed it.

2.+3 - entry in /etc/sudoers.d will do it, that you need not every time typing your password to unlock - i will change it for wheel group users only, not for ALL
