Surfshark has updated to 2.2.0-2835, but seems to omit that revision number in the filename now.

Updating my PKGBUILD with this seems to work:

pkgver=2.2.0.2835
source=("https://ocean.surfshark.com/debian/pool/main/s/surfshark_2.2.0_amd64.deb")
sha512sums=('aef4c588c8505f0720aa91f96e882877f22556410a36eae9b606d3a73f3868a450c21e9810b8a792273b58af65c97aa1342c970b4f3f9beee879ea3c22543309')

New link to download the file https://ocean.surfshark.com/debian/pool/main/s/surfshark_2.1.0-2503_amd64.deb

or you can edit PKGBUILD and modify the source as below -

source=("${package}::https://ocean.surfshark.com/debian/pool/main/s/${package}")

Was this renamed from surfshark-gui-bin or something? The comments history seemed to be all over the place lmao

On the Arch forum I was advised against installing this deb because it is terrible, what is the truth?

For people looking for difference between this package and surfshark-gui-bin, please compare surfshark-client.install and surfshark-gui-bin.install.

Earlier, similar package was blocked from the AUR after users pointed out the issues with the install script that was created using debtap without any sanitization. surfshark-gui-bin was created by repackaging it after removing all the issues.

  • Update to 1.6.0
  • Clean up PKGBUILD

For people looking for difference between this package and surfshark-client, please compare surfshark-client.install and surfshark-gui-bin.install

Earlier, this package was the same as surfshark-client i.e. created using debtap without any sanitization, and was blocked from the AUR. I have repackaged it for myself after removing all the issues and shared with everyone.

Rest is up to you to decide which package to use.
