Hi, thanks to ueyed, my ueye camera is somehow detected, red light on camera turning green now. However I can't find how to make it available in a
/dev/video?

Hmm, that points to a bug or race condition in ueyeusbd, because USB devices can be hotplugged at any time. Requiring udev to be settled is always a race condition.
Nevertheless, I'll add Wants+After=systemd-udev-settle.service. It should at-least fix the issue for all devices already plugged in at boot. I don't think the other
Wants
from the upstream service file are required or correct for Arch.Thank you for reporting this!

FYI, we were running into issues with our camera when
ueyeusbd.service
was enabled on startup, and it seems to be fixed by changing the[Unit]
section to addWants
andAfter
sections for udev. These lines were taken directly from the IDS package (in this pkgbuild's folder: src/lib/systemd/system/ueyeusbdrc.service)de-vries commented on 2020-11-18 15:13 (UTC)

Whoops, good point about the udev rules.
Anyway, the cameras can not be used through normal linux camera APIs. You have to use the libueye API. I've never used USB cameras myself though, only ethernet cameras, so I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it.

As you stated /usr/bin/ueyenotify has been removed but the udev rules still contain it. This is why I see some errors in the logs but I doubt its the reason I can't get the camera recognized. After starting the ueyeusbd.service and pluging the camera in, should it list the camera as a /dev/video or /dev/ueye device or am I missing a step?
