Codelite and visual studio code seem to work the best. The documentation for Linux does seem to be a bit lacking / haphazard.

Do you successfully work with UE on Arch? What source code editor do you use? I have multiple and different problems trying to set both KDevelop and QtCreator up and don't know if I should give up or not. :P

Ahh, I just tested and got the same result, GitHub must have changed something. I updated the PKGBUILD with viridiam's suggestion which fixed it.

@acerix uhh, I think I did as this works good:
"[sms@assy-arch unreal-engine]$ ssh -T git@github.com
Hi Dijuna! You've successfully authenticated, but GitHub does not provide shell access."
And this:
"[sms@assy-arch unreal-engine]$ git clone -b 4.12 git@github.com:EpicGames/UnrealEngine.git
Cloning into 'UnrealEngine'...
remote: Counting objects: 780922, done."
Still the same error if I use your PKGBUILD. If I do what @veridiam said - everything's fine for now (just started downloading).

@Dijuna You can use an SSH key to authenticate with GitHub:

How do I add my login and password? It won't download...

@viridiam What is the basis for that change? The only difference I notice is that I get an "is not a clone of" error meaning I would need to re-download the entire source.

can you please modify the line
git+ssh://github.com/EpicGames/UnrealEngine.git#tag=4.12.5-release
to
git+ssh://git@github.com/EpicGames/UnrealEngine.git#tag=4.12.5-release
thanks!

@zerophase
I ran into errors when trying to build 4.11 with clang 3.7, and I don't think 3.8 was supported until 4.12, so you probably need 3.5 to build it. Here's the old PKGBUILD if it helps:

@acerix I just wanted to check if Clang 3.8 causes issues for Unreal 4.11. I have to role back my version for work.

@juancarlospaco this is easily done on your own system, not in a PKGBUILD, given that building packages runs as root:
Permission issues like this are already mentioned on the UE Arch wiki page: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Unreal_Engine_4#Installing_from_the_AUR
This is a user system problem; I already did what I could without needing users to do the above by giving the
777
permissions. If it still gives you trouble, you'll have to use the example to solve it or change the install location to somewhere you have user permissions by default (as I cannot do this for you).zerophase commented on 2021-05-27 08:15 (UTC) (edited on 2021-05-30 08:41 (UTC) by zerophase)
Will update to 5.0 when it is released.
