@Severus ok, with a trial and error, here's the correct package for current viber version:

https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/f/fcitx5-qt/fcitx5-qt-5.1.0-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

still missing hotkey switch, so i have to switch keyboards with a mouse. super annoying

fcixt qt5 never works because viber was built with qt6, for fcitx or other input method, use QT_DEBUG_PLUGINS=1 viber to check if viber load plugins correctly

@num did you change permission 644 for this file? It works for me

num commented on 2025-02-08 12:10 (UTC)

@Severus it doesn't, tried like 5 versions of that library already, still not working for me.

@num you can download fcitx-qt6-1.2.7-15-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst from archive and extract usr/lib/qt6/plugins/platforminputcontexts/libfcitxplatforminputcontextplugin-qt6.so then move it to /opt/viber/plugins/platforminputcontexts/libfcitx5platforminputcontextplugin.so it should work as expected

my arch install switched to fcitx5 keyboard switcher by default.

Viber can't switch languages under wayland.

proposed solution from fcitx maintaner: "Ask viber to bundle fcitx im module in app image."

anything that can be done?

@kosa It's strange - I never had such problem but after all I'm glad everything is running fine :)

kosa commented on 2024-11-07 14:59 (UTC)

@mozo After I rebooted the issue was gone. A contact reported that after installing Viber with flatpak, and before rebooting, all the messages I had sent them had gone through, but they were empty of content. Now everything works well on my end as well. Thanks for bringing it up.

@kosa

I don't have the connection problem. I use it for 2 year and everything is working pretty fine. It's just the audio but I'm starting it via script with export QT_MEDIA_BACKEND=gstreamer && viber and that's it.

@mozo

I've given flatpak a try, and it launches okay, but then it keeps flashing the "Connecting..." message on the top left corner on and off the screen every second (which is very annoying).

Otherwise, it sends files which it had problems in my case previously, it plays back audio, which it did not ever do outside flatpak before, and it plays back videos as well, which I could never do in any previous installation that I can recall.

Do you have any suggestions for the "Connecting..." message?
