Regarding v4.2.0-1: You will probably get a compiler error/warning about implicit declaration of function ‘strptime’ in the file GUI/xephem/sunmenu.c .

This was fixed after release by adding the line 

 #define _XOPEN_SOURCE

in GUI/xephem/sunmenu.c .

Why doesn't the package contain a "desktop" file? Without it, it doesn't show up in the apps menu.

4.0.1 is on the clearskyinstitute site, via the LHS "Free download" link: not sure which version you are tracking though now! https://www.clearskyinstitute.com/xephem/download.html direct link - https://www.clearskyinstitute.com/xephem/xephem-4.0.1.tgz

I found no version 4.0.1 yet, so I just adjusted the PKGBUILD to 4.0.0-4.

For the (hopefully) next release PKGINFO might be adapted since xephem changed it's license to MIT and is now hosted on https://github.com/XEphem/XEphem I am not sure if further downloads will be offered at Clearsky Institute anymore.

As posted today in the xephem group at groups.io xephem changed it's license to MIT and therefore bumped to version 4.0.0

Hello all,

After seeing so much interest in packaging XEphem for the future, I am moved to release it under the MIT Open Source license. To clearly delineate the heritage, I have bumped the version to 4.0.0. You can download it from my usual XEphem home page at https://clearskyinstitute.com/xephem. I only changed four files from 3.7.7 to reflect the change in terms:

XEphem needs your help. In particular note I have not incorporated the recent patches by Lutz Mändle in the contrib section. That would be a good place to start. In general, I can think of at least the following that need attention.

Jupiter and Saturn moons ephemerides polynomials expired in 2020 and will now rapidly grow inaccurate. Pluto's osculating elements Magnetic declination model Delta T model external access to data and images updated field stars databases browser help connections

Finally, let me say Thank You to everyone who has used XEphem. I look forward to seeing where others can take it in the future.

It doesn't work. On manjaro lxqt it's like it isn't installed, you can't find the program anywere.
