Unlike the original community version, this repo builds ceph from source. Ceph is a large, complicated project so this takes several hours on a good build server.

To get a similar experience to how community/ceph worked (pre-built binaries) use ceph-bin instead.

@freeage Compiling ceph will take lots of resources. Maybe your computer can't afford that. Have you tried the prebuilt binaries? There is ceph{,-libs}-bin by pbazaah on AUR and prebuilt ceph{,-libs} by arch4edu.

@petronny i only can tel that i made update with yay. ceph-libs hangs.

Why where and how i can not tel. My Computer hangs and i have to restart him. Thats all i can say. Take it out from the update please.

How does ceph-libs hang when it just provides libraries? Do you mean building ceph-libs? What hangs exactly?

Please do not let us guess what happens next time.

The Problem is still there sam one shut take it out from the update. I try the PKGBUILD it hangs also. Regards Freeage

I also have the issue where ceph-libs fills up my memory and crashes my machine. I didn't even know this package was installed, something must have included it as a dependency. Due to the severe nature of this failure attention should be given to this problem even if the package is obsolete.

This package is impossible to compile... Here specs of my machine, and after 15 minutes, ram and swap are full. Now I'll try with ceph-libs-bin, I wish I can complete it.

Have a building v16.2.10 branch, which was much easier than the v15 -> v16 move.

Need to test it before pushing, but the only remaining work left after this is to figure out a v17 build.

Then we're back to tracking the upstream latest.
