How can something which is not needed be a dependency? Sounds odd. Oh and metacity and gnome-panel is not even used by cinnamon. And adding the whole gnome group (if possible) as a dependency is really crazy. I don't even use the whole gnome group and don't want to. Even gnome-shell does not depend on gnome-panel, metacity, etc.

@chenxiaolong, it doesn't say anything about it in the PKGBUILD standards, but it does say the gnome files need to be installed in a specific schema.

@lenin: Do you know if a group can be added as a dependency? I'm not sure if it can...

@chenxiaolong: Then you should set gnome as one of the dependencies.

@denvist: Cinnamon is just a shell for the GNOME environment (much like gnome-shell and unity) and therefore, it's implied that the 'gnome' group must be installed (which contains those packages you listed).

Please add missing depencies: - metacity - notification-daemon - gnome-panel - gnome-settings-daemon

@jardasmid: Added :) The compiling issue with later versions of GLib 2.0 (development versions) is also fixed.

libgnomekbd missing in depencies, it won't start without it.

@bartusdavid: NTP was fixed in git by https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/commit/02002b23720f51d5eaa36eee8a74eb5b8fea67b7 so you can use this package again if you want. With the latest changes, dbus-python is now a direct dependency (indirect via caribou). //edit: dbus-python, not python2-dbus

@chenxiaolong: yes, installed and running. Meanwhile I've compiled the "cinnamon" package with the PKGBUILD for 1.2 which ktalog provided: http://pastebin.com/S7hrHhWn And it works!
