My apologies. I should have reverse applied the r3981 diff first instead of last. Having it applied last was wiping out my previous change to the Window Decoration command - the command with the COMPIZ_BIN_DIR variable doesn't appear to work properly.

The latest package (compiz-0.9.13.0-4) built and installed fine on my two systems, and it restores the behavior set via CCSM. But gtk-window-decorator doesn't seem to work: the window borders and shadows are not being drawn. Also, attempting to change the window border through the MATE Appearance -> Customize sometimes causes dconf-service (I think) to get stuck beating on the disk and CPU until I kill the Mate control center. I think I have all the relevant packages, including the AUR packages, up to date.

Seeing as these Ubuntu specific config patches are causing all sorts of problems, the expo offset for one thing and the multiple desktop number being set to 1 instead of 4, I've decided to just reverse the all the changes made in r3981 so that we can get back to the old upstream defaults.

Multiple desktop number was reset to 1 in 0.9.13. Thanks to @Chazza and @zigo for providing the solution. Hope this will be patched in future release.

Thanks korrode :) I've added fix-expo-offset.patch. The delay was due to me being away on holiday.

Hi Chazza, i noticed that Expo now gets offset for what i'd think is the panels in Ubuntu/Unity. I've adjusted it back in the manjaro-defaults.patch in compiz-manjaro, but here it is broken out if you want to change it back also: http://paradoxcomputers.com.au/arch/misc/fix-expo-offset.patch

@talessx No worries. Glad it's working for you now.

Thanks a lot Chazza, everything works fine now. I dont' know how also conky and cairo-dock are ok. I'm sure I updated all the system.

@kinoru Excellent. Glad the problem is solved. Note to all. Please do make doubly sure before posting here with a problem that your system is fully up to date (that includes this package). If you're holding back an update on some important piece of infrastructure (like gtk3 for instance) then mention that in your post. I'm quite happy to answer people's questions where I'm able but it really helps me (and others who might want to help as well) if we're starting with the assumption that the system is up to date. Thanks folks
