For me the newest version 0.7.2-1 launches and then flashes between half of the user interface and white. Console output is only $ gitkraken (electron) ipc module is deprecated. Use require("electron").ipcMain instead. state: update-not-available state: checking-for-update (electron) loadUrl is deprecated. Use loadURL instead. App load time: 382ms state: update-not-available EDIT: Downgrading freetype2 to version 2.6.2-1 helped. If you don't have the file in your cache anymore, you can download it from here: http://seblu.net/a/archive/repos/2016/02/01/extra/os/x86_64/freetype2-2.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz EDIT: Bug reports: https://github.com/atom/electron/issues/4513 , https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/48300

Doesn't launch at all for me. If I run it in a terminal I get: (electron) ipc module is deprecated. Use require("electron").ipcMain instead. state: update-not-available state: checking-for-update (electron) loadUrl is deprecated. Use loadURL instead. App load time: 651ms state: update-not-available And then it just sits there. I have to kill it.

Well, the author updated PKGBUILD after very little time I posted my last comment. :) There's no reply from GitKraken's team on Twitter. Maybe we should add freetype2 to dependencies?

MarcinWieczorek, I had the same problem, but when I grabbed the PKGBUILD and it built just, no complaints about the checksum. Shrug. (I ran "yaourt -G gitkraken; cd gitkraken; makepkg")

0.7.2 tar failed md5 check

I've found this: https://github.com/atom/electron/issues/4513. It seems it's a distro specific problem with our version of the freetype2 package.

0.7.2 didn't change anything for me with the problem with freetype

@MarcinWieczorek downgrading freetype2 fixed it for me as well, thanks!

shadowflame commented on 2016-02-18 23:02 (UTC)

@MarcinWieczorek, downgrading freetype2 fixed it for me too. Now, let's see how to make this more permanent.

Well, it helped. Find your pacman log from the day it broke (13.02 in my case) and try downgrading.
