IF PROBLEM HAPPEN

this package is our try to put amdgpu in ARCH, but this could break or have problems as amd update and change their packages for ubuntu

if anything happens you can always download a older tag in https://github.com/Ashark/archlinux-amdgpu-pro/releases and get the PKGBUILD there, and use makepkg with that build while we update or try to fix :)

ALWAYS USE LINUX-FIRMWARE-GIT IF LATEST DRIVER FAIL BEFORE ISSUE SOME ERROR

22.40 tests:

AMF working for obs and ffmpeg

progl working as much i can test, as for DR in my 6700xt its working (till now), i have the opencl-amd package too, i`ll try a new project and ssome render to see

provk as overwatch its working fine too

i`ll edit here later with more info about that

I updated to v22.40_1518373-1, now the amdgpu-pro-libgl become amdgpu-pro-oglp.
According to this comment on phoronix, AMD replaced old proprietary OpenGL with some another "new" proprietary OpenGL, called OGLP (probably stands for OpenGL PAL).

I tried DR with my RX580, with opencl-amd 20.45 (because as it is said in pinned comment, all next versions are broken). And it behaved broken. Immediately after opening project I got the error saying that GPU memory is full. And the picture of preview is working improperly.

I do not know if that is because of mixing 20.45 opencl with 22.40 progl. Or because of that oglp is not working with rx580 (the pal is not for rx580, right?).

If somebody know, please inspect the resulting package and advice me if it has some file location issues. Especially I am not sure if dri files are placed correctly.

Also, the tests for all components are wellcome: pro vulkan, pro opengl, amf.

Thanks mesmer !! My feedback, the driver work perfectly. I can use again obs studio AMF.

In game it work too, like Apex, CSGO, ... But as you know I prefer to use in game the mesa driver, cause I have better performance.

I will report if I have any trouble. But for now, it is working.

Nice job ;)

@kode54 you are right, they changed the closeGP to OGLP i gonna work on that right now, while we are fixing please use one from history if you need the GL

kode54 commented on 2022-12-23 09:20 (UTC)

You do know you just replaced the libgl package with essentially an empty package, right?

i updated to 22.40 but PLEASE report any problem so i can revert, it was a big update overall, with this you should be able to use latest firmware

mesmer commented on 2022-12-23 02:06 (UTC)

@Joan31 yeah, exactly that (also i write about that in the wiki too, happy to see that someone get information by this) if you wanna try the update while i test it you could try to get the pkgbuild from the PR and try its in test stage but should be fine

https://github.com/Ashark/archlinux-amdgpu-pro/blob/7ba58c1e9709df86a705491b2c32415ec6127a64/PKGBUILD

and you help me to test it haha

Thanks for this package. I don't know why, but since yesterday, OBS-AMF does not work. So, with the next update, it would resolve my issue ?

Edit :

I red this from arch wiki : Note: As of October 2022, because of a error in the AMD driver you need linux-firmware to be in the version 20220815.8413c63-1 to have H264 and HEVC working.

So according to your comment about the next update, this firmware issue would be solved ? It's a good news :)
