This now depends on libavcodec.so so when it needs to be rebuilded against new ffmpeg version you are forced to uninstall first otherwise the update will be blocked

I can confirm that a manual sudo modprobe sg was necessary to get makepkg to detect my DVD drive.

Can I get co-maintainer on this?

@zcsaszar pkgbuild is out of date, latest makemkv is 1.17.7

either wait for it to be updated or edit a local version and build it.

Unfortunately, https://www.makemkv.com/download/makemkv-bin-1.17.6.tar.gz gives a 404 error and makepkg fails. Can the file be made accessible again? Thanks.

And you propose this should be fixed at the packaging level?

I have a LibreDrive-enabled drive, and using this package MakeMKV does not rip 4K UHD blu-ray discs, and gives errors that suggest that my drive is not in fact LibreDrive-enabled and I am unable to rip such UHDs. However, this behavior does not occur under Windows and that is able to rip UHDs just fine.

I'm happy I could help @Fabian42. MakeMKV is an awesome program!

Fabian42 commented on 2024-02-16 17:12 (UTC)

@Muncrief That version just works with "yay". Yay!

@Fabian42 I took a look at your pastbin log and noticed you're trying to build version 1.17.5-1, and the current version is 1.17.6-1. I have 1.17.6-1 installed and had no problem with the build so I'd try building the latest version.

makemkv: symbol lookup error: makemkv: undefined symbol: _ZN11QToolButton13checkStateSetEv, version Qt_5`

What do I need to install/reinstall to avoid above. Currently makemkv won't start.

^^^^ Above error was caused by wrongly set LD_LIBRARY_PATH. After unsetting makemkv works fine.

FabioLolix commented on 2023-12-19 11:34 (UTC)

@Fabian42 I have not encountered that error so far, please build with makepkg or even better with devtools https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/DeveloperWiki:Building_in_a_clean_chroot as I don't have time for AUR helpers

@murlakatamenka thanks for the head up, it was there since I adopted the pkgbuild, from a first test seems I can remove that entirely
