This now depends on libavcodec.so so when it needs to be rebuilded against new ffmpeg version you are forced to uninstall first otherwise the update will be blocked

I can confirm that a manual sudo modprobe sg was necessary to get makepkg to detect my DVD drive.

Sadly I can confirm this. The AUR version does not work on Gnome, while snap does. However the snap version does have other issues for me. Is there any know workaround to compile this / use the aur version?

I can also confirm that makemkv shows a segfault in dmesg upon startup.

As a workaround, I installed it as a snap, and it works. But I'd much rather have it installed natively, as I had to install the snapd daemon just for this.

I can confirm. Even rebuilding against the new glibc version doesn’t prevent the program from crashing at startup.

tgw314 commented on 2022-08-03 08:25 (UTC)

It seems to get a crash when updating glibc to 2.36-1

I had to prepend the following to :29 of the PKGBUILD:

LDFLAGS="$(pkg-config --static --libs libavcodec)"

Fixes:

undefined reference to `avcodec_register_all'

Might not be applicable to everybody, or require change of main PKGBUILD, but I wanted to note here.

@mattelacciato, see "Getting Started" at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_User_Repository.

The base-devel package group is assumed to be installed when using AUR, thus it is not listed as dependency. base-devel's list of packages is found at https://archlinux.org/groups/x86_64/base-devel/.

FabioLolix commented on 2022-03-15 10:19 (UTC)

No, you need to install the base-devel group before dealing with AUR pkbuilds

mattelacchiato commented on 2022-03-15 08:36 (UTC)

I needed to install pkg-config manually. Maybe this should be added as an dependency...?
