Fix the package. It doesn't start. Because of the following commented line: ln -s ../lib/palemoon/palemoon "$pkgdir/usr/bin/palemoon

Hello,

Will you please remove line 54 in the revised PKGBUILD? The Pale Moon developers would like it removed.

Another Pale Moon guy here..

Thanks for fixing the dictionary/hyphenation discrepancy.

For troubleshooting purposes, we would prefer that the palemoon and palemoon-bin binaries are left intact. The goal is to keep the repackage as pristine as possible.

Long story short: someone using this repackage script came into our IRC channel with a segfault. We pointed him to our official build, and it worked. So we took a look at this PKGBUILD and found the dictionary and symlink issues.

Our goal is to avoid these kinds of issues by asking repackages of our binary builds to remain pristine as possible.

Plus, the binaries are only 257K because most of the guts are in libxul.so. And this should be compressed to the point of deduplication by the xz algorithm.

@oberon2007: It's probably because Section 3 requires that the binaries be "completely unaltered". Line #54 of the revised PKGBUILD replaces the distributed palemoon binary with a symlink to palemoon-bin.

By contrast, the symlink created by line #39 is fine, because it does not modify or alter any of the files provided by the tarball, nor is the link situated within - or beneath - the base directory of the binary distribution.

Additionally, both hunspell and hyphen can be removed from optdepends at this point.

Hi @mattatobin. Hm. I get it about removing the dictionaries, but what's the problem with symlinking the executable, please? I don't see what you mean in the license.

Here we go again..

Lines 52-55 and Line 59 is in direct violation of the Pale Moon Redistribution License Section 3.

Please remove those lines from your pkgbuild or remove the palemoon-bin repository.

You are right @Ketsui. On the other hand desktop-file-utils should be added ;) updated.

I think icu can be removed from the dependencies.

https://github.com/MoonchildProductions/Pale-Moon/wiki/Pale-Moon-development-in-Arch-Linux

$ pacman -Ql palemoon-bin | grep icu

palemoon-bin /usr/lib/palemoon/libicudata.so.58

palemoon-bin /usr/lib/palemoon/libicui18n.so.58

palemoon-bin /usr/lib/palemoon/libicuuc.so.58
