the 'scrt-9.3.1.2929.ubuntu22-64.tar.gz' file is no longer available on 'https://www.vandyke.com/cgi-bin/releases.php?product=securecrt', is this a common occurance? maybe to fix some bugs or something? can I expect it to be available again soon?

No problem, kb8doa, we're here to help.
So Paru is an application that acts as a combined AUR installer, along with a wrapper for Pacman (the main package manager for Arch). It's nice because you can just type
paru
and it will run both in an equivalent ofpacman -Syu
.There is an application called "Yay" which does the same.
But if you are using something more default, like
yaourt
, then your folder is different. What command did you use to attempt to install scrt? If you're using yaourt, then it's installed usually under
/tmp/
You can be sure by taking the application you build the package with and searching "<aur helper application> build directory".
Or just let me know & I can help you.

How do I know which directory the PKGBUILD will occur in? I don't have a paru subdirectory in my .cache directory...

@kb8doa , do you have that file in your build directory ?
For me:
You can also build from your local directory, with paru, using
-Ui
Also, ensure that you have the Ubuntu22 version, not Ubuntu 20
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS 64-bit vs Ubuntu 20.04 LTS 64-bit

Thank you for the quick out-of-date notification! I received the vandyke update email 2 hours later. I also renewed my license today.
Package built without issue on my system and my Manjaro VM. As usual, let me know if you encounter issues.

Please don't discuss cracks / piracy in this comments section. Please keep all comments in relation to the build/install of / usage of SCRT on Arch (or arch based distros).

Hi @ZEBofx ,
Glad to hear you sorted it all out. Thanks for also letting me know that you too are using Manjaro. I'll be sure to build all future packages in my Manjaro test environment (Plasma Minimal) to ensure you're not left behind.
Maybe I should add a comment to the PKGBUILD to have Manjaro users come to the comment section -- should they encounter issues -- because it looks like you guys have each other's backs
Yes, the encrypt prompt is a bit annoying. But it's worth it since they are upping the encryption strength; Good news, considering the potential sensitive data.
I sympathize with having to do it on four machines as well. In a previous company, while working in the NOC, I had to go through the annoying process of re-pointing my scrt to my non-standard share drive on 10 different machines.
The config folder is easier in Linux, especially if you sync it with syncthing :)

Hello again,
I did the Manjaro upgrade on my 4 machines (1 Virtual, 3 physical), and after installing icu70, your scrt package installed everywhere with no problem. Well, I had to reinstall openssl-1.1 anyway, since pip in pyenv was broken, but that is another story. And now, sharing configuration between machines is quite a pain (need to accept again and again to encrypt the Config directory, on each machine in turn), but that is on Vandyke side...
Thank you again for your package.
Regards,
ZeBofx
