This package will be kept in sync with the openzfs latest stable release and the kernels officially supported by it.

For the supported kernel versions, refer to the respective openzfs release notes (LINK).

E.g. openzfs 2.3.1 supports kernel versions 4.18 - 6.13. When kernel 6.14 is released for Arch, zfs-linux will not be updated until the openzfs project announces that it's compatible. This will most likely happen with the next openzfs release.

The kernel compatibility of the upcoming openzfs release can be seen in their META file (LINK).

For those wishing to use openzfs with unsupported kernels, do note that this could lead to serious issues, including data loss, even though such a zfs-linux package might build and install cleanly. Have reliable backups and use such a package at your peril.

Please do not mark this package as out of date without checking the kernel compatibility first. Thank you!

I have only used demizer's ZFS repos for a few months. The repos are great, but I have two questions about upgrades: 1. This package is currently flagged as out of date. Is that not incorrect? Upstream <http://zfsonlinux.org> currently shows 0.6.5.7 as the latest version, which is only compatible up to linux 4.6. Upstream is the one "out of date," not this package. 2. It has been almost two months Arch upgraded linux to 4.7, yet ZoL upstream has yet to release something compatible. Does this happen often? More than a month is a long time to go to hold off performing a system update...

@demizer: Looks like everything can be updated now. According to the comments in that thread you linked to, the AUR push bug has since been fixed. Quietly awaiting updates to support the 4.7 kernel.

All, The archzfs-linux packages will be out-of-date for an indefinite amount of time. * The archzfs-linux packages will remain out-of-date until upstream (http://zfsonlinux.org/) makes a stable release that supports the 4.7 kernel. * The archzfs-linux-git and archzfs-linux-lts packages are available as alternatives. * https://github.com/zfsonlinux/zfs/pull/4665 shows that linux 4.7 support is added, but a stable release has not yet been made. i can not install zfs-linux it failed. here is the error: https://gist.github.com/jerome-diver/2b126ba46a9eaa06786a63197f5dad41 @NoSuck: all the kernel i installed are "original" ones. linux-vfio is the original linux-vfio kernel. I arrived to install and use zfs some month ago, but at each update time there is problem(s). It looks like the package build doesn't care anymore about other kernel than the one the maintainer is using. In my situation, remove all of theses packages and do install zfs-dkms and zfs-utils-dkms one resolve my problem and see zfs working back. hope this experience will help other by use same zfs-dkms packages.

can install it for last linux kernel, but failed from linux-vfio last kernel. THe problem for me is that, when i'm running arch from vfio kernel (the last one, consider my system fresh updated), packages stop because it search in a directory who not exist (the directory where need to have the Module.symver and some other...) because it take the name of the vfio kernel, but after that, it's going to search in the default linux named directory. So, for reproduce the problem, just install a second kernel (vfio or other) and try from there to install zfs... in this situation, you can not install the package and dependencies. Before this update this problem did not exist.

patch: getting attribute system.posix_acl_access of system.posix_acl_access Definitely not ready for 4.5. Neither patch nor setfacl work. All works fine on 4.4.5. Never mind. It works fine with the new AUR packages. The old git packages are broken by being commit locked.

It should be fixed now. I actually forgot to push the updated archzfs repo, and none of my alarms went off. @butler360 zfs-linux is the ZFS package for the default arch linux package. Thanks

I have to admit, I'm quite confused now. Is this the right package to use if I'm using the archzfs repo and the default Arch kernel? That's my current setup but yeah the kernel update has downed ZFS for me at this time.
