@XeCycle Interesting, I did not know that. It should have been mentioned in the changelog indeed

3.4.4 requires kernel >= 5.16.3, not released as of today. Wait for some time before upgrading! Ref: https://github.com/cifsd-team/ksmbd-tools/issues/227#issuecomment-1019602745

@enihcam Indeed, but it's up to a Trusted User

Also linux should provide KSMBD-MODULE

enihcam commented on 2022-01-22 07:33 (UTC)

since 5.15 LTS is released, all official arch kernels have support of ksmbd now. ksmbd-tools has to be in community.

Yeah it would be cool if this got pulled into community

@post-factum Official kernel linux and linux-zen version 5.15 do have ksmbd enabled:

CONFIG_SMB_SERVER=m
CONFIG_SMB_SERVER_SMBDIRECT=y
CONFIG_SMB_SERVER_CHECK_CAP_NET_ADMIN=y
CONFIG_SMB_SERVER_KERBEROS5=y
CONFIG_SMBFS_COMMON=m

However they does not providing KSMBD-MODULE, sadly.

Thank you.

With ksmbd-dkms providing KSMBD-MODULE (thanks for that!) I think that this package should depend on KSMBD-MODULE instead of ksmbd-dkms.

(reason: for linux-pf I'm going to merge ksmbd directly and make it provide KSMBD-MODULE too)
