@jackoneill @senorsnor watch it, other exaMPLE about suffering :) all for the bad code made by realtek and the kernel developpers without wanting in the tree( something normal)

After upgrading my kernel to 5.3 today (and later 5.3.1), my wifi didn't work anymore. Downgrading to 5.2.14 solved the issue for me.

Log entries related to this module, including multiple stack traces, at https://pastebin.com/kLQzQrPA

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I would like to stay up to date with all packages including kernel if possible. If I can provide more info just let me know.

@jackoneill a few weeks ago when I started using the laptop that had this wireless card this package only works with pre 5.2 kernels. Some example of suffering because my laptop won't boot up with nothing older than 5.2 kernels. Other few problems there and here for the features not compatible and @tomaspinho having to fix it for us (thanks ). In addition are the problems that this module will have with future kernels abis rather than having it builtin in the kernel tree .. I thought at the start that this laptop won't work ever with the WiFi card for example xD

I don't know about suffering. I installed this package, inserted the module, and it's been working fine since.

I have read a few days ago this lkml, thanks anywar for the mention. I can understand the mantainers, but.. we are suffering for this. I hope the RTW88 adds support for our wireless card in the start of 2020

A while ago I stumbled upon a mailing list thread where kernel developers explained why they didn't want this driver. I can't find the thread now. Apparently this driver is unreasonably large (~200000 lines of code), which makes it difficult to maintain.

will it be mainlined some day in the kernel tree? I don't understand why if there is an opensource official driver by realtek for this card it wouldn't be mainlined in linux :s Do you know something about this?

Thanks SOOOO much for this! This is the only way I can use my laptop on WiFi.

I have tried editing the pkbuild and putting the git of the person who make the pull rquest directly, is working in 5.3, yes, but in 5.2 for me is broken... Ask people in github it the fix broke pre 5.3 kernels support

@tomaspinho I'm not used to work with github, if you put another branch with that pullrequest for triying it I will try, but I don't know how to merge a pull request in master branch, sorry, I am useless..
