This is the IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition, Version 11 Java Virtual Machine.

Unlike previous versions, there is no proprietary IBM J9 JVM for this version of Java. This is a version of the Eclipse OpenJ9 JVM licensed under the IBM Commercial license (license available here: https://www14.software.ibm.com/cgi-bin/weblap/lap.pl?la_formnum=&li_formnum=L-PARM-C5ME22 ).

Since the package was created when the JVM was still named "IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, Version 11", it uses the j9 denomination. No name change is planned regarding the new VM as it does not conflict with any existing JVM and it avoids requiring the users to manually handle a name change.
